Hayley creates her works spontaneously, allowing her moods to carry the paintbrush around the canvas. Her forms and colors conjure their own counterparts, and in the process Youngs quotes from a multitude of dialects like abstract expressionism and psychadelia. Her loose methods produce surprisingly precise, playful composites whose Rorschach-like result allows viewers to intuit their own symbols and meanings.
Youngs’ recent works have been specifically influenced by her visits and studies of the architectural landscape designs of the gardens at Versailles by André Le Nôtre as well as historical, medieval Italian Cathedrals. She has taken much enthusiasm from the lines, curves, movement and grandiose arrangements; incorporating those ideas into her own works. The process of painting is very meditative for Hayley, ultimately leading er to create spiritual like designs through radiating geometrical symmetry.
